YoYoMovies: new movies and TV shows from around the world, from Elio and The Penguin to Chhaava and Lovely Runner
By late 2025 YoYoMovies had become a sleek, dark movie site: a black header with a gold YOYO MOVIES logo, a huge hero with an uppercase title and a bright pink Watch Now button, a Trending Now strip, and a menu that listed more than a hundred countries. YoYoMovies returns with that bold black-and-pink look and a new purpose. It is a guide to the movies and TV shows of 2024 and 2025 from around the world, from Hollywood and Bollywood to Seoul, Tokyo, Paris, Madrid, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Rome and Berlin, and every title has a Watch now button that opens it on the official services in your country.
The YoYoMovies design
This YoYoMovies is rebuilt from two archived captures of yoyomovies.net: the home page of November 2025 and the landing page of January 2025. Both ran on a WordPress theme called fmovie, and its style sheet and theme settings were measured: a near-black page, a pure black header, dark charcoal cards with softly rounded corners, off-white text with quieter greys for details, and a vivid pink for buttons, badges, active tabs and highlights. The typeface was Work Sans, a clean, modern sans serif, and it is used here too.
The original logo was a picture of gold letters. This site uses an original wordmark in the same spirit: YOYO in large gold capitals with MOVIES tucked beneath, shaded from bright yellow to amber, beside a small pink play button.
The header and menu
The header is a black bar, as on the original. On the left sit a menu button with three lines and the gold wordmark; on the right, a rounded Filter pill and a long rounded search box with a pink magnifying glass. Beneath it, a slim menu row lists Home, Movies, TV Series, World Cinema, Top Rated, Genre, A-Z and My List; the page you are on is marked with a thin pink edge. The Filter pill opens every collection on the site. On a phone the header shrinks to the menu button and the wordmark, and the menu slides in with its own search box.
The hero
The home page opens with a large hero in the style of the 2025 site. A wide backdrop fills the screen, fading to black on the left and at the bottom, and the featured title sits over it in bold uppercase letters. A row of details follows: a pink HD badge, an outlined badge for movie or series, a star score, the year, the running time and the genres. A short story comes next, then a pink Watch now pill with a play icon and an Add to My List link with a bookmark. In the corner, small thumbnails lead to the other featured titles, such as The Penguin, Chhaava, Lovely Runner, TRON: Ares and The Eternaut.
Trending Now
Below the introduction comes Trending Now, framed by two small flame icons exactly as on the original. Four wide dark cards show the most popular titles of the moment, each with a dimmed backdrop, the title in white uppercase letters, the genres in pink and a small arrow in the corner. Point at a card and the picture brightens.
The poster grid and the latest episodes
The heart of the home page is a two-column area. On the left, a Recommended block with three pill tabs, Movies, TV Series and Popular, switches between three grids of fifteen posters; the active tab is outlined in pink and tinted, and the tabs work with a keyboard too. Each poster has rounded corners, a small pink HD badge and a line underneath with the year, a small outlined label for movie or TV, and the running time or the latest season, followed by the title. Point at a poster and it grows slightly and dims while a pink play button appears.
On the right, a Latest episodes sidebar lists the series with the newest seasons, each with a small poster and a line in the original's style, such as TV / SS 2 / EP 8, above the title. Two more rows follow the grid, World cinema and From Korea, each with a View more pill, and then come the help guides and this guide to the site.
A title page
Every poster leads to a full title page. It shows the poster and the backdrop, the original title in its own language, the year, the running time or the number of seasons and episodes, the genres, the score, the story, the cast with their roles and the director or creators. The viewing panel lets you choose one of fifteen countries, from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia to India, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, South Korea, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, the Philippines and South Africa. Pick yours and press Watch now to open the title on JustWatch, which lists every official service that carries it there. Series pages go further, with a page for every season and a list of every episode with its air date and a short summary.
Hollywood for the family
The Hollywood shelf gathers the English-language films of 2024 and 2025. For families, Elio, from Pixar, follows a lonely boy who is mistaken for Earth's ambassador by a gathering of alien worlds, and Freakier Friday reunites Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis for a new body swap, this time across three generations. The Garfield Movie sends the lasagne-loving cat on a heist with his long-lost father, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants takes SpongeBob to the depths of the sea, and Karate Kid: Legends brings Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio together to train a new student in New York.
Hollywood action and drama
For action, TRON: Ares sends a digital program, played by Jared Leto, out of the computer and into the real world, The Accountant² reunites Ben Affleck's maths genius with his brother, played by Jon Bernthal, and Bad Boys: Ride or Die puts Will Smith and Martin Lawrence on the run in Miami. Caught Stealing, from Darren Aronofsky, stars Austin Butler as a former baseball player dragged into the New York underworld of 1998, and Deep Cover is a comedy about an improv teacher recruited by the police.
For something more thoughtful, Bugonia, from Yorgos Lanthimos, stars Emma Stone as a powerful executive kidnapped by two men convinced she is an alien, and Blue Moon, from Richard Linklater, follows the lyricist Lorenz Hart, played by Ethan Hawke, on the night his former partner opens Oklahoma!. The Idea of You is a warm romance with Anne Hathaway, and Regretting You and It Ends with Us bring Colleen Hoover's best-selling novels to the screen. The Family Plan 2 and Another Simple Favor complete the shelf. The Hollywood guide gathers the highlights.
Horror
These years were rich in horror. Bring Her Back, from the Australian brothers Danny and Michael Philippou, is a frightening story of two siblings sent to live with a strange foster mother, played by Sally Hawkins, and The Long Walk adapts Stephen King's tale of young men in a deadly walking contest. Black Phone 2 returns to the haunted telephone of the first film, and Five Nights at Freddy's 2 reopens the pizzeria of the video games. James McAvoy leads a tense remake of a Danish thriller about a holiday with a very strange family. The Horror collection gathers them with scary films from Korea, Japan, Mexico and Germany.
Bollywood
The World Cinema collection opens with India. Chhaava stars Vicky Kaushal as the Maratha king Sambhaji Maharaj, son of Shivaji, and it became the biggest Hindi hit of 2025. Superboys of Malegaon, from Reema Kagti, is a joyful true story about a group of friends in a small town who make their own low-budget films, and Sitaare Zameen Par stars Aamir Khan as a basketball coach who trains a team of neurodivergent players. War 2 pairs Hrithik Roshan with N. T. Rama Rao Jr. in a globe-trotting spy thriller, and Shaitaan is a gripping supernatural thriller with Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan.
Crew is a lively heist comedy with Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon as three flight attendants, Do Patti casts Kajol as a police officer and Kriti Sanon as twin sisters, and Thamma adds a vampire love story to the horror-comedy universe that began with Stree. Singham Again, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Jewel Thief - The Heist Begins, Deva, Jaat and Housefull 5 bring the star power. The Bollywood collection gathers them all.
Korean movies
South Korea supplies some of the most exciting films on the shelf. Ma Dong-seok, known abroad as Don Lee, leads three of them: The Roundup: Punishment, the fourth adventure of his relentless detective, Badland Hunters, a post-apocalyptic action film, and Holy Night: Demon Hunters, which pits him against demons. Officer Black Belt stars Kim Woo-bin as a martial arts expert who joins the probation service, Hijack 1971 recreates a real attempted hijacking, and Project Silence traps drivers on a fog-bound bridge with dangerous dogs.
Revelations, from Yeon Sang-ho of Train to Busan, is a dark thriller about faith and guilt, Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy adapts a hugely popular web novel about a reader trapped inside his favourite story, and The Old Woman with the Knife stars Lee Hye-young as an ageing assassin. Lost in Starlight is a beautiful animated romance set between Seoul and Mars, and You Are the Apple of My Eye, Even If This Love Disappears Tonight and Love Untangled are tender first-love stories. Dark Nuns, with Song Hye-kyo, and Noise complete a shelf for every taste.
Japanese movies
Japan brings some of the most striking films of these years. Kokuho, from Sang-il Lee, follows two young men who dedicate their lives to kabuki theatre, and it became one of the biggest live-action hits in Japanese history. Golden Kamuy is a thrilling treasure hunt across snowy Hokkaido, Kingdom: Return of the Great General continues the epic saga of ancient China, and City Hunter brings the famous manga detective to Shinjuku. Cells at Work! turns the human body into a busy city of blood cells, and Bullet Train Explosion, from Shinji Higuchi, is a race against time aboard a speeding Shinkansen.
For horror and mystery, Dollhouse is a creepy tale of a haunted doll, Cloud and Chime, both from Kiyoshi Kurosawa, are eerie thrillers, and Demon City is a stylish revenge story. Bushido is a samurai drama about honour and the game of go, 11 Rebels is a grand war film, Broken Rage is a playful crime film from Takeshi Kitano, and Drawing Closer is a gentle, moving love story.
French movies
French cinema is represented by prize-winners and crowd-pleasers alike. It Was Just an Accident, from Jafar Panahi, won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2025, and The Seed of the Sacred Fig, from Mohammad Rasoulof, is a powerful family drama set in Tehran. The Marching Band is a moving comedy about two brothers who discover each other through a brass band, and Beating Hearts, from Gilles Lellouche, is a sweeping love story across two decades. Little Amélie or the Character of Rain is a luminous animated film based on a novel by Amélie Nothomb, and Arco is an animated science fiction adventure about a boy from the future.
The Richest Woman in the World stars Isabelle Huppert as a billionaire heiress, The Shrinking Man casts Jean Dujardin as a man who grows smaller every day, and The Wages of Fear, K.O., Dog 51 and Survive bring French action. Families will enjoy the two Miraculous World specials, Miraculous World: Paris, Tales of Shadybug and Claw Noir and Miraculous World: London, at the Edge of Time.
Spanish-language movies
Spain and Latin America add a rich mix. The Room Next Door, Pedro Almodóvar's first English-language feature, with Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton, won the Golden Lion in Venice, and Sirāt, from Oliver Laxe, follows a father searching for his daughter at desert raves in Morocco. Latin American animation shines: I Am Frankelda is a Mexican stop-motion fantasy, Kayara is a Peruvian adventure about a girl who wants to become an Inca messenger, and Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires reimagines the Dark Knight in the Aztec empire. Dragonkeeper, The Red Virgin, The Courier, A Widow's Game and Night Shift complete the shelf.
Italian movies
Italian cinema had a strong two years. La Grazia, from Paolo Sorrentino, reunites him with Toni Servillo as a president facing difficult decisions at the end of his term, and Vermiglio, from Maura Delpero, is a quiet, beautiful family story set in a mountain village during the Second World War. The Children's Train tells the true story of children from the poor south sent north to live with host families after the war, and Diamonds, from Ferzan Özpetek, is a colourful tribute to the women of a Roman costume workshop. Primavera follows a young violinist at the orphanage where Antonio Vivaldi taught, and The Forbidden City is a kung fu action film set in Rome.
For laughter, Buen Camino stars Checco Zalone on the pilgrimage to Santiago, Somebody to Love is a warm ensemble comedy, and Fantasy Football Ruined Our Lives is a comedy about a group of friends obsessed with their league. Three Goodbyes, The Last One for the Road, The Negotiator, The Big Fake, The Holy Boy, Sweetheart, The Love Scam and Vanished into the Night complete a varied shelf.
German movies
German-language films range from history to comedy. Late Shift follows a hospital nurse, played by Leonie Benesch, through a single demanding night, and Amrum, from Fatih Akin, tells of a boy on a North Sea island in the last days of the Second World War. The Tasters recounts the true story of the young women forced to taste Hitler's meals, The Tank follows a tank crew on a desperate mission, and The Devil's Bath is a haunting historical drama set in eighteenth-century Austria. Hagen retells the Nibelungen legend from the point of view of a warrior.
For thrills, Exterritorial follows a former soldier searching for her son inside the American consulate in Frankfurt, Sixty Minutes gives a fighter one hour to reach his daughter's birthday party, and Brick traps a couple behind a mysterious wall. For families, Woodwalkers, Manitou's Canoe and the animated Grand Prix of Europe are a delight, and Chantal in Fairyland, Weddings and Wokes: A Family Dilemma and Stromberg - Wieder alles wie immer bring German comedy. The world cinema guide picks highlights from every country.
TV series: crime and heroes
The TV Series collection gathers the English-language series of 2024 and 2025, each with every season and episode. The Penguin is the headline: Colin Farrell, transformed beyond recognition, plays Oz Cobb as he fights his way to the top of Gotham's underworld. Dexter: Resurrection brings Michael C. Hall back as the famous vigilante in New York, Cross stars Aldis Hodge as James Patterson's detective Alex Cross, and Matlock and Elsbeth add clever legal and detective stories with Kathy Bates and Carrie Preston. The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, The Agency, with Michael Fassbender, and Black Doves, with Keira Knightley, are gripping spy thrillers, and Sugar is a stylish mystery with Colin Farrell as a Los Angeles private detective.
Comic-book fans will find Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, an animated series about Peter Parker's early days, Agatha All Along, with Kathryn Hahn as the witch Agatha Harkness, and Batman: Caped Crusader, a moody animated adventure. UNTAMED follows Eric Bana as a federal agent in Yosemite, and Bad Monkey is a sunny Florida crime comedy with Vince Vaughn.
TV series: other worlds
Science fiction and fantasy fill a large part of the shelf. 3 Body Problem adapts Liu Cixin's acclaimed novels about first contact, Alien: Earth brings the xenomorph to our planet, and Dune: Prophecy tells the origin of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood ten thousand years before the films. IT: Welcome to Derry returns to Stephen King's cursed town in the 1960s, Doctor Who welcomes Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, and House of David retells the story of the young David. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place brings magic to a new generation, and Haunted Hotel is an animated comedy about a family running a hotel full of ghosts.
TV series: comedy
For laughter, The Studio, with Seth Rogen as the new head of a Hollywood studio, is one of the sharpest comedies of recent years, and The Residence, with Uzo Aduba as an eccentric detective, is a murder mystery set inside the White House. Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage follows Sheldon Cooper's brother as a young husband and father, Stick stars Owen Wilson as a former golf pro coaching a teenage talent, and Ludwig casts David Mitchell as a puzzle-setter who poses as his missing twin brother, a detective. 9-1-1: Nashville, Doctor Odyssey and Tires complete a lively shelf. The TV series guide suggests where to begin.
K-Drama
The K-Drama collection gathers the Korean series of 2024 and 2025, and several of them became worldwide hits. Lovely Runner follows a devoted fan who travels back in time to save her favourite singer, played by Byeon Woo-seok, and it turned him into a star across Asia. The Judge from Hell casts Park Shin-hye as a demon who takes over the body of a judge to punish the guilty, Good Boy follows Park Bo-gum and a team of former Olympic athletes who become police officers, and Bon Appétit, Your Majesty sends a modern chef, played by Yoona, back to the Joseon court, where she must cook for a demanding king.
When the Stars Gossip is a romance aboard a space station with Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin, Trigger is a tense thriller about illegal guns in Korea, and Flex X Cop pairs a rich young heir with a sharp detective. Confidence Queen, with Park Min-young, is a stylish con-artist caper, Beyond the Bar follows a young lawyer at a big firm, and Dear X and ONE: High School Heroes add darker stories. The K-Drama guide suggests where to begin.
Spanish-language series
Some of the most ambitious series of these years came from Spain and Latin America. One Hundred Years of Solitude, filmed in Colombia, is the first screen adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez's masterpiece, following seven generations of the Buendía family in the magical town of Macondo. The Eternaut, from Argentina, stars Ricardo Darín as a survivor of a deadly snowfall in Buenos Aires, adapted from a classic comic, and Like Water for Chocolate brings Laura Esquivel's novel of love and cooking to life in revolutionary Mexico.
Women in Blue follows the first women to join the police in 1970s Mexico City, Red Queen is a brainy Spanish crime thriller, and City of Shadows begins with a mysterious crime at Gaudí's Casa Milà in Barcelona. Zorro gives the masked hero a lively new series, Bandidos is a treasure hunt through the Mayan jungle, and Medusa, Envious, In the Mud, Billionaires' Bunker, The Accident, Old Dog, New Tricks, Sisters' Feud and The Guest complete a shelf of thrillers, comedies and dramas. The Spanish-language series guide has more.
Subtitles and dubs
World cinema is easy to enjoy on the official services. Films and series from India, Korea, Japan, France, Spain, Italy and Germany come with subtitles in many languages, and many offer dubbed audio in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Hindi and more. Switch between them from the audio and subtitle menus while the title plays, and change the size and colour of subtitles in the player settings. Watching in the original language with subtitles is a wonderful way to hear the actors' own voices. The subtitles and dubs guide explains the settings.
How Watch now works
Every title on YoYoMovies has a pink Watch now button, on the hero and on every title page. Choose your country and press it, and JustWatch opens with every official service that carries the title in that country, with subscription, rental, purchase and free options side by side. World cinema moves between services more than most, with a Korean film on Netflix in one country and on a local service in another, so the button checks JustWatch each time. The how to watch guide walks through the steps.
Where the titles stream
The global services, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Max, Apple TV+ and Paramount+, carry a large share of the catalogue, and many of these films and series were made for them. Regional services add more: JioHotstar and ZEE5 in India, TVING and Coupang Play in Korea, U-NEXT in Japan, Canal+ in France, Movistar Plus+ in Spain, Vix across the Spanish-speaking world, and RaiPlay in Italy. Apple TV, Google TV and Prime Video rent and sell many of the films. The streaming services guide gives more detail.
Free and legal options
Some of the catalogue can be watched free and legally. Tubi, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel and Vix carry films and series free with adverts in several countries, and Kanopy and Hoopla offer world cinema with a library card in some. When you press Watch now, free options appear on JustWatch beside the paid ones. The free movies guide lists the best places to look.
Phones, laptops, consoles and TVs
YoYoMovies works in every modern browser, on a phone, a tablet, a laptop or a desktop computer. On a phone the header shrinks to the menu button and the wordmark, the Trending Now cards stack one above another, and the poster grid drops to three columns. You can add YoYoMovies to your home screen from the browser menu, where it opens like an app. The titles play in each service's official app, and Fire TV, Google TV, Apple TV, Roku, PlayStation, Xbox and most smart TVs run them. The apps and devices guide covers each option.
My List
The original site had a Favorite button on every film; here the same idea is My List. Press Add to My List on any title page to save a film or a series, and on a season page mark the episode you reached, which is handy for long series such as Lovely Runner, The Penguin or One Hundred Years of Solitude. My List is stored in your own browser, works straight away and belongs to you alone. Export saves it to a small file, and Import restores it on another phone or computer. The My List guide has the details.
Finding a title
There are several ways to find what you want. The search box in the header looks through titles, including original titles in Korean, Japanese and other scripts, as well as cast and directors; press Enter for the full results page, where you can narrow the list to films or series. The Filter pill opens every collection, from World Cinema, Bollywood, K-Drama and Spanish-language series to Horror, Thriller and Family, and the menu leads straight to Movies, TV Series, World Cinema and Top Rated. The A-Z index lists everything alphabetically, and the finding titles guide explains each route.
Top Rated
The Top Rated collection gathers the titles with the highest scores from a good number of votes, and the Popular tab on the home page shows the best of them. Lovely Runner, The Judge from Hell, Good Boy and Bon Appétit, Your Majesty sit there with The Penguin, Dexter: Resurrection, IT: Welcome to Derry, The Studio and One Hundred Years of Solitude, alongside films such as The Seed of the Sacred Fig, Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, Arco and Late Shift.
Recognising YoYoMovies
Popular names attract copies, so it helps to know the real design. This YoYoMovies has a black header with the gold YOYO MOVIES wordmark and a small pink play button, a rounded Filter pill and search box, a large hero with an uppercase title and a pink Watch now pill, Trending Now cards framed by flame icons, and posters with pink HD badges beside a Latest episodes sidebar. Every Watch now button leads to JustWatch and from there to the official services. Bookmark the home page, or add it to your phone's home screen, and you will always return to the right place. The official site guide repeats these signs.
Streaming safely
A few habits keep streaming safe and simple. Install apps only from official stores, give each service its own strong password and switch on two-step sign-in where it is offered. Before entering payment details, check that the address bar shows the real name of the service. YoYoMovies links only to JustWatch, and JustWatch links to the official services, so every step stays on trusted ground. The safety guide keeps the checklist short.
If a page is slow
If YoYoMovies seems slow, load the home page and then any title; if both appear, the site is working. Refreshing the page, clearing the browser cache, trying another browser or switching between mobile data and Wi-Fi usually solves the rest. Playback itself happens on the streaming service, so its help centre is the right place for any playback question. The site status guide lists the quick fixes.
Privacy
YoYoMovies keeps things light and ready to use at once. My List, your chosen country and the episodes you mark are stored in your own browser, on your own device. Posters and details load from TMDB, and the site font loads from Google Fonts. The privacy page explains each item in plain words.
How the catalogue is chosen
The catalogue follows the spirit of the 2025 site, whose menus listed films from more than a hundred countries. It gathers the films and series of 2024 and 2025 from Hollywood, India, South Korea, Japan, France, Spain, Latin America, Italy and Germany. Every title is chosen by hand for a general audience, and the whole catalogue is drawn from TMDB, which supplies the posters, stories, cast and episode lists. The sister guides Vidjoy, XPrime and YMovies cover the biggest English-language hits and anime of these years, so YoYoMovies leans into world cinema and brings its own mix.
A short history of YoYoMovies
YoYoMovies appeared in 2024 with a gold logo and a bright landing page, a blurred collage of posters behind a rounded search bar, a Top search line and a pink button leading into the site. By the end of 2025 its home page had grown into the full black-and-pink design this rebuild brings back, with its hero, Trending Now strip, tabs and latest-episodes sidebar. The difference today is where each title leads: every film and series now opens on the official services that carry it, in your country.
Where to start with world cinema
If world cinema is new to you, a few titles make a perfect introduction. Start with an animated film such as Little Amélie or the Character of Rain or Lost in Starlight, whose images need little translation, then try a crowd-pleaser such as Chhaava, The Roundup: Punishment or The Marching Band. When you are hooked, move on to the prize-winners: It Was Just an Accident, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, Vermiglio and Kokuho reward every minute. For series, Lovely Runner and The Eternaut are great first steps.
Ideas for a movie night
If you are planning an evening, a few pairings work beautifully. For a family night, try Elio followed by Arco, two animated space adventures from Pixar and France, or Kayara with I Am Frankelda for a Latin American double bill. For thrills, The Roundup: Punishment and Officer Black Belt make a punchy Korean evening, and Bring Her Back with Dollhouse is perfect for a brave group of horror fans. For something moving, The Marching Band and Late Shift stay with you long after the credits, and for pure spectacle, Chhaava and Kokuho show two very different national epics.
Animation from around the world
Animation is one of the joys of world cinema, and the Family collection shows why. From France come Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, a child's-eye view of Japan based on Amélie Nothomb's memories, and Arco, a colourful science fiction fable. Mexico adds the stop-motion wonders of I Am Frankelda, Peru adds Kayara, Spain and China add Dragonkeeper, Korea adds Lost in Starlight, and Germany adds Grand Prix of Europe, a racing comedy. With Hollywood's Elio and The Garfield Movie, it is a wonderful tour of styles.
Festival winners
The catalogue holds several of the most celebrated films of the festival circuit. It Was Just an Accident won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2025, and Sirāt won the Jury Prize there the same year. The Room Next Door won the Golden Lion in Venice in 2024, and Vermiglio won the Grand Jury Prize the same year. The Seed of the Sacred Fig received a special prize at Cannes in 2024. Each title page gives the story and the cast, a good way to choose which to watch first.
True stories and history
Many titles on YoYoMovies are based on real events. Chhaava tells the story of a seventeenth-century Maratha king, Superboys of Malegaon follows real amateur filmmakers, Hijack 1971 recreates a real hijacking, and The Children's Train and The Tasters tell true stories from the Second World War and its aftermath. Primavera imagines the world of Vivaldi's students in Venice, Women in Blue follows Mexico's first policewomen, and Blue Moon recreates a famous night in Broadway history. Each one is a small window into another time and place.
Watching together
Many of these titles are made for a full room. The songs and dances of Housefull 5 and Crew invite a party, the fights of Badland Hunters and Holy Night: Demon Hunters get everyone cheering, and the romance of Lovely Runner and Bon Appétit, Your Majesty brings friends back week after week. For group viewing, cast the title to the television, choose the audio language everyone prefers and turn on subtitles for anyone who follows better in another language.
Watching from abroad
YoYoMovies readers live all over the world, which is why the viewing panel covers fifteen countries. Choose the country where you are right now, since that is where the services will play, and JustWatch lists the services that carry the title there. A Bollywood film may be on one service in India and another in the United Kingdom, and a Korean series may move between services from country to country, so it is always worth checking. Your country choice is remembered in your browser for the next visit.
A first visit
On a first visit, let the hero catch your eye, then look at Trending Now and switch the Movies, TV Series and Popular tabs to see the range of the catalogue. Check the Latest episodes sidebar for new seasons, open a few titles and read their stories. Press Watch now on one that appeals, choose your country and follow JustWatch to the service. Save a few titles to My List for later. Within a few minutes, YoYoMovies will feel like home.
Directors to know
The catalogue is full of great directors. In Hollywood, Yorgos Lanthimos made Bugonia, Richard Linklater made Blue Moon and Darren Aronofsky made Caught Stealing. Pedro Almodóvar made The Room Next Door, Paolo Sorrentino made La Grazia, Fatih Akin made Amrum and Ferzan Özpetek made Diamonds. Kiyoshi Kurosawa made both Cloud and Chime, Takeshi Kitano made Broken Rage, Yeon Sang-ho made Revelations, and Jafar Panahi and Mohammad Rasoulof made It Was Just an Accident and The Seed of the Sacred Fig. Searching a director's name is a good way to discover more of their work.
Stars to follow
A few stars appear again and again. Ma Dong-seok leads three Korean action films, Colin Farrell leads both The Penguin and Sugar, and Kriti Sanon appears in Crew and Do Patti. Rashmika Mandanna stars in Chhaava, Sikandar and Thamma, Akshay Kumar in Singham Again, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Housefull 5, and Adèle Exarchopoulos stars both in Beating Hearts, directed by Gilles Lellouche, and in Dog 51, opposite him. Kento Yamazaki leads both Golden Kamuy and Kingdom: Return of the Great General, and Tsuyoshi Kusanagi leads Bushido and Bullet Train Explosion. Search any name in the header to find their titles.
Planning a binge
The series on YoYoMovies come in many lengths. The Eternaut and City of Shadows tell their stories in six episodes, perfect for a weekend, and The Penguin runs for eight. Korean dramas such as Lovely Runner and Good Boy run for around sixteen episodes, best enjoyed over a week or two, and network series such as Matlock and Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage run for twenty or more a season. The season pages show the number of episodes and their air dates, and My List keeps your place, so you can plan a binge as long or as short as you like.
Reading the scores
Every title page shows a score out of ten, the average rating given by TMDB members. Scores from many voters are the most reliable, which is why the Top Rated collection lists titles with a good number of votes. World cinema often has fewer votes than Hollywood, so a smaller film with a modest number of ratings can still be a gem; read the story, check the genres and trust your own taste.
Films for every season
The catalogue has something for every time of year. Winter suits the snowy landscapes of Golden Kamuy and the mountain village of Vermiglio, spring suits the music of Primavera, and summer suits the island of Amrum and the road trips of Buen Camino. Autumn evenings call for the chills of Bring Her Back, Dollhouse and IT: Welcome to Derry. Whatever the weather, the Filter pill in the header will point the way to the right collection.
Worth watching again
Some titles reward a second viewing even more than the first. The twists of Bugonia and The Residence look different once you know the ending, the performances in Kokuho reveal new details on every viewing, and the time-travel puzzles of Lovely Runner are a delight to revisit. Keep a few favourites in My List for the evenings when an old friend is exactly what you need.
Stories that travel
Stories often travel from one country to another, and the catalogue makes it easy to follow them. You Are the Apple of My Eye is a Korean remake of a much-loved Taiwanese romance, and Even If This Love Disappears Tonight remakes a Japanese hit. The Wages of Fear reimagines a French classic of the 1950s, Zorro and City Hunter give famous heroes a fresh look, and Cells at Work! turns a popular manga and anime into a live-action film. On the Hollywood side, Freakier Friday and Karate Kid: Legends return to much-loved stories for a new generation. Watching two versions of the same tale is a fun way to see how each country puts its own mark on it.
Music on screen
Music runs through many of these titles. Blue Moon is set among the songwriters of 1940s Broadway, Primavera is filled with Vivaldi's violins, and The Marching Band finds joy in a small-town brass band. Kokuho captures the music and movement of kabuki, and the Bollywood films bring songs and dances that fans play again and again. On the series shelf, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place and Haunted Hotel bring their own playful soundtracks. A good pair of headphones or a soundbar makes all the difference.
For younger viewers
Families will find plenty to enjoy. The Hollywood shelf offers Elio, The Garfield Movie, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants and Karate Kid: Legends, and world cinema adds Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, Arco, Kayara, Dragonkeeper, Grand Prix of Europe, Woodwalkers and the two Miraculous World specials. On the series shelf, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Haunted Hotel suit younger viewers. Check the genres and the story on each title page to choose what suits your family, and use the Family collection to see them all together.
Short watches
Some evenings call for something short. Many of the animated films run for well under two hours, the episodes of Haunted Hotel and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man fit into a lunch break, and the six episodes of The Eternaut make a perfect weekend. The running time on each title page and the episode list on each season page help you plan, whether you have twenty minutes or a whole afternoon.
